UCF water tower receives Florida Water Landmark Award

February 24, 2021

The iconic UCF water tower was presented the Florida Water Landmark Award this week by the American Water Works Association. The award recognizes and preserves a Florida Water Landmark at least 50 years old that has had a direct and significant relationship with water supply, treatment, distribution, or technological development.

Dedicated in 1967, UCF’s elevated water storage tank stands nearly 170 feet tall and can be seen from miles away in Orlando. The tank holds 200,000 gallons, and still functions today as a storage tank to provide system pressure for the campus’s water distribution system.

The award will soon be installed at the base of the water tower for the campus community to enjoy.
